The inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix took place at the Yas Marina Circuit in 2009. As the first twilight race in Formula One history, with powerful lighting ensuring a flawless transition from day to night, it fast claimed its spot as the most glamorous event on the calendar.
Yas Marina’s waterfront competes with the likes of Monaco and Valencia. Picturesque and beautiful, the track wraps itself around the island's sleek marina, creating space for an abundance of luxury yachts. Designed to transform the future of Formula One circuits, the course boasts top speeds of 320 kilometres per hour. It features the longest straight of the season, adrenaline-packed high-speed sections, nail-biting tight corners for overtaking, and a twisty street circuit-style sector. It is also one of the few venues on the calendar to run in an anti-clockwise direction.
With close and competitive racing guaranteed in a breath-taking setting, as well as being the only circuit in the world to offer covered grandstands, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix deserves one of the top spots on your sports travel bucket list this year.
